Life360, the family location-sharing and safety app, is expanding its pet-tracking lineup on Tuesday with the launch of $7.99 scannable pet tags, along with new features like care logs and “zoomies alerts” that tap into its existing tracking network. The company says families have added more than 8 million pets to their accounts since it entered the pet tech space last year.
The new scannable tags are designed for pet owners who don’t want to attach a bulky GPS tracker to their pet’s collar or who don’t need advanced features like geofences and escape alerts. Instead, the tags feature a QR code that, when scanned by anyone with a smartphone, immediately alerts the pet’s family through the Life360 app installed on their phones. The person who finds the pet does not need to have the app installed for the alert to work.

The scan also provides the pet’s location details, which can be critical if a lost pet escapes from the finder’s control and runs off again — the family will have a last known location to work from. Families can update their contact information directly through the pet profile in the Life360 app.
New care tools and zoomies alerts
Beyond the tags, Life360 is rolling out several new pet care features. Families can now schedule “care logs” to track whether the pet has been fed, walked, given medication, or had its litter cleaned. Everyone in the family can view these routines, making it easier to coordinate care responsibilities.

The company is also introducing “Zoomies Alerts” for its GPS trackers, which detect and notify owners of bursts of high-energy activity — commonly known as “zoomies” — that pets often experience at particular points during the day or evening. A new Weekly Roundup will recap other routines, such as total distance walked or which family member provided the most care during the week.
More affordable GPS tracking
Life360 is also making its pet GPS trackers more accessible. Previously, the trackers were only available with the higher-tier Platinum and Gold subscriptions. Now, they’re included with the $99-per-year Silver plan, broadening the potential customer base.
The new pet tags and GPS trackers are available on Life360’s website and on Amazon in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the U.K.
Why this matters
Life360’s expansion into pet tech builds on its 2021 acquisition of Tile, the Bluetooth tracking company. The company has leveraged Tile’s lost-item-finding technology to offer tracking for keys, handbags, luggage, and pets, in addition to its core family location-sharing features.
The move reflects a broader trend of consumer tech companies extending their platforms into pet care, a market that has grown as pet owners increasingly treat their animals as family members. By offering both low-cost scannable tags and more advanced GPS trackers, Life360 is positioning itself to serve a wider range of pet owners, from those who just want contact information on a tag to those who want real-time location tracking and escape alerts.
For families, the new features could provide peace of mind and simplify daily pet care coordination. The company’s decision to include GPS trackers in the Silver tier may also put pressure on competitors in the pet tracking space, which often require higher subscription fees for similar hardware.
As Life360 continues to build out its pet ecosystem, the company is likely to focus on integrating these features more deeply with its existing family safety platform. The addition of care logs and zoomies alerts suggests the company is looking beyond just location tracking, aiming to become a more comprehensive pet care companion.
