Shares of Bhatia Communications & Retail (India) Ltd ended Tuesday’s session at ₹38, about 5% above the previous close of ₹36.27, after the Surat-based small-cap reported a doubling of quarterly profit and a fresh interim dividend, Mint reported. The stock had opened higher at ₹37.40 and climbed to an intraday high of ₹40.40 before giving back most of the advance.

Key facts

  • Closing price of ₹38 against the prior close of ₹36.27; intraday high of ₹40.40 and open of ₹37.40.
  • Second interim dividend of Re 0.01 per share, or 1%, on shares with a face value of Re 1, declared at a board meeting held on November 2, 2026.
  • Record date for the dividend, for the financial year 2026-27, set at November 13, 2026.
  • Q2FY27 total income of ₹204 crore, up 51% year on year from ₹135 crore and over 7% quarter on quarter from ₹190 crore.
  • Q2FY27 net profit of ₹7.50 crore versus ₹3.73 crore a year earlier and ₹6.82 crore in the preceding quarter.

What the results showed

Both topline and bottom line grew on an annual and sequential basis, according to figures carried by Mint. The year-on-year income increase is the sharper of the two measures, while the sequential gains were more modest. The company’s market capitalisation stood at about ₹540 crore at the close.

The dividend announcement came in the same board resolution as the results. In a regulatory filing quoted by Mint, the company said the 1% payout would be made to shareholders within the period prescribed under the Companies Act, 2013.

Trading range and listing

Bhatia Communications trades only on the BSE. Its 52-week high is ₹41.99 and its 52-week low is ₹17.99, leaving Tuesday’s intraday peak of ₹40.40 close to the upper end of that band. The stock’s sub-₹50 price places it in the small-cap segment tracked by retail investors looking for low-ticket positions.

A second report on dividend payers

Finbold also published a dividend-focused piece this week, covering Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO), a long-standing Warren Buffett holding. According to that report, KO shares started 2026 at $69.12 and had risen 36.52% to $94.36 at its press time on Monday, November 2. Finbold said the S&P 500 gained 11.06% year to date over the same stretch, while PepsiCo (NASDAQ: PEP) fell 3.03%.

The same article, drawing on Berkshire Hathaway’s Q4 2025 13-F filing, said the conglomerate held 400 million KO shares worth roughly $27.96 billion at the start of 2026, and put its gain on the position at more than $10 billion over the 11 months to press time. Finbold said Coca-Cola had paid $1.59 per share across three $0.53 quarterly instalments in April, July and October, with a further $0.53 due on December 15. Those figures apply to Coca-Cola and are separate from the Bhatia Communications payout; the two reports concern different companies and different markets.

Why it matters

For a company of this size, a doubling of net profit plus a token dividend on a Re 1 face value is the kind of combination that attracts short-term trading interest, and Tuesday’s volume and price swing reflected that. The payout itself is nominal in cash terms; the signal is the board’s willingness to distribute alongside growth. The contrast with the Coca-Cola coverage is instructive: large-cap dividend names offer scale and predictability, while a sub-₹50 small-cap on a single exchange carries thinner liquidity and wider moves on the same day.

What to watch

The November 13 record date will fix which holders qualify for the 1% interim payout, and the stock’s behaviour around that date, plus whether ₹41.99 is tested again, will show how much of the results-driven interest persists. Nothing in the reported figures guarantees that either the price or the dividend policy continues on the same path; this article is not financial advice, and small-cap share prices and payout decisions can change quickly.
